Former Saints striker Bradley Wright-Phillips has now netted 25 goals for New York Red Bulls in the MLS this season, matching his total at St Mary’s.
The 29-year-old tallied the same amount of goals at Southampton in more than 100 appearances, but has equalled it in just 30 appearances in the USA.
Wright-Phillips signed for Saints in 2006 and left for Plymouth in 2009, he then moved to New York last year.
His most recent goal came when he struck the opener in a 3-1 win over Toronto FC. That goal moved him within three goals of beating the record for most in a single MLS season.
