Six more Saints players are preparing for duty with their country tonight, as a busy week of international action starts to wrap up.

Euro 2016 qualification matters will dominate this evening, with five of the club’s stars continuing on the road to the next major tournament, in France.

One of the best stories to have emerged from the early stages of the campaign is Northern Ireland, whose side is captained by Steven Davis.

They have won their opening two matches, following up a shock 2-1 success in Hungary with Saturday’s 2-0 victory at home to Faroe Islands.

Their position at the top of Group F will be put on the line tonight, as they visit Greece, who have only one point from a possible six so far.

Elsewhere in the same group, Florin Gardos could feature for Romania, as they travel to Finland. Both nations are on four points, just behind Northern Ireland.

Romania will be disappointed not to be level at the top of the group, though, having conceded a late equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Hungary – a match in which centre-half Gardos came off the bench early on.

In Group I, Saints team captain Jose Fonte will be hoping to earn a first senior cap for Portugal, as they visit Denmark.

Fonte is in his country’s squad for the first time, but did not feature in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly loss away to France.

Portugal suffered a surprise defeat to Albania in their opening qualifier, and could use a result in Copenhagen to get their campaign up and running.

In the same group, Dusan Tadic will almost certainly start for Serbia, who host early leaders Albania.

The Saints playmaker played the full 90 minutes for his country on Saturday, as they drew their opening qualifier 1-1 in Armenia.

Saints striker Shane Long was given the night off on Saturday, as Republic of Ireland cruised to a 7-0 win over Gibraltar, in Dublin, to make it two victories from two in Group D.

His services might well be required this evening, however, as they visit world champions Germany, who are smarting from a 2-0 defeat in Poland at the weekend.

Morgan Schneiderlin is the other Saint readying himself for international action tonight, with France visiting Armenia in a friendly.

Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Zambia’s Emmanuel Mayuka are on Africa Cup of Nations qualifying duty tomorrow.
