Artur Boruc has confirmed his desire to leave Saints on a permanent basis if he is not going to regain the number-one goalkeeper position at the club.

The 34-year-old lost his place in the team this summer to £10m signing Fraser Forster and was loaned out to Bournemouth last month.

He is due to remain with the Championship side until the end of the year, and has admitted he sees no future at Saints as it stands.

“Just now I’m staying up until January,” said Boruc, whose contract at St Mary’s expires at the end of the season.

“We’ll see what’s going to happen. If there will be something interesting coming up I may try it.”

Poland international Boruc, speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, added: “I want to keep playing, that’s the main thing for me, just because I was doing that all my life.

“I’m not the kind of person who can calmly sit on the bench, watching a game.

“I like to be in the action, so that’s why probably I need to go from Southampton, if nothing’s going to change.

“But Fraser Forster is a great goalkeeper. That’s life.”
