Winchester scored three second half goals to turn a 4-3 half-time deficit into a 6-4 victory over Chichester – their second consecutive success in Hampshire/Surrey Regional League Division 1.
The game ebbed and flowed, with the lead frequently changing hands.
Winchester struck first through Kent Langridge, hat-trick hero against Basingstoke a week earlier, but Jim Ellis soon had Chichester on level terms.
The visitors then struck a double blow – Mark Maunsell making it 2-1 and Tristan Marshall quickly adding a third.
Winchester's early dominance began to wane as the first half progressed and before long Chichester were level 3-3 through Ollie Robinson and Dan Symons.
Reduced to ten men when Robbie Craddock was sin-binned, Winchester found their earlier 3-1 lead turned upside down when the evergreen Neil Pendle struck to make it 4-3.
The second half started comparably slowly, it wasn't until Mark Maunsell found himself again unmarked in the Chichester D that Winchester got back to level terms.
A brief spell of possession saw Chichester go close several times before Winchester scored their fifth – Langridge side-stepping a plethora of sticks and firing a shot against the goalkeeper’s helmet.
A kind rebound allowed him to score his fifth goal in two games since returning from Fareham.
With six minutes left Rob Ritchie put Winchester 6-4 up with a thundering reverse stick effort.
Winchester’s 100 per cent start to the season will be put to the test when Havant II visit Kings’ on Saturday.
