Wimborne Wayfarers scored ten goals without reply against the city-based Honourable Artillery Company, who turned up at Queen Elizabeth School with only eight players.
Penalty corner specialist Todd Clark scored five, and Sam Butterfield claimed a hat-trick as Wayfarers, 7-0 up at half-time, scored only three more after the break.
“We could have scored 15 or 20 goals but for the heroics of the HAC goalkeeper, some of whose saves were simply amazing,” said Wimborne manager David Ridley.
Luke Smith (2) and Nick Clark scored the other goals for newly promoted Wimborne, who hit top of Regional Division 2 after three straight wins.
Southampton University, yet to get off the mark, were held 2-2 by London Academicals – Adam Cope and Nic Craze scoring.
But they found their shooting sticks against Varsity rivals Bournemouth in their opening BUCS match, winning 7-1 with Cope scoring four times.
