SQUASH: Winchester’s third team went top of the Hampshire Championship League table after a 5-0 home victory over Chichester.
Russell Brooks got the ball rolling with a convincing win, recovering from a shaky start in which he lost the first game to click through the gears and take the next three games for the loss of just a single point. Skipper Jon Day then increased the lead with a straight games win over Chichester coach Mike Phillips.
This set the scene for Stuart Parfett’s dominant victory over Chichester’s Neal Smith – the Winchester player overwhelming his opponent for the loss of just four points.
With team victory in the bag, Ali King was able to overcome Chichester veteran Tony Adams 3-1. Winchester no.1. Ben Thomas then applied the coup de grace, beating Jamie Allday to secure maximum points for his side.
