Saints' £12m forward Shane Long added: “It’s a club that’s destined for big things in the Premiership. The facilities here are amazing – they’re the highest standard I’ve seen. Southampton is a club that progresses players, and that’s what I want to do, and I’m in the right set-up and under the right management to do that, so I’m excited by what’s ahead."
The new training ground will be used by all age groups, with players start at one end of the training ground as U8s and graduating through the site.
Speaking about how much of an impact the new facility will have on the on all age groups at the club, Les Reed said: “The idea is they graduate through these different-sized pitches and move up the site.
“The design of the site has been aspirational as well as practical for coaching.
“From under-eight all the way through too the first-team, we will have the best facilities you could ever want to develop football players in."
