SAINTS fans are the second loudest in the Premier League, according to new figures.
Sound meter smartphones were used to measure sound levels at all of the past weekend’s Premier League games after Jose Mourinho’s complaints about lack of noise at Stamford Bridge the previous week.
And the St Mary’s roar as Saints beat Leicester was measured at 78 decibels, out of a maximum 120.
It comes after rising ticket prices, all-seater stadiums and growing number of ‘day-trip’ fans have blamed for crowd apathy.
All samples were taken from kick-off to the 60-second mark with the highest recorded point used.
No goals were scored anywhere during this time meaning all samples can be considered to have occurred during similar circumstances.
Manchester United’s game with Crystal Palace was the highest scoring with 84 decibels recorded.
And Saints’ effort was level with Sunderland, Tottenham and West Brom’s matches again Everton, Stoke and Newcastle respectively.
