Andrew Surman will begin his comeback from injury against Millwall reserves this afternoon.
The Saints midfielder has not played since suffering a knee injury during the Boxing Day draw against Crystal Palace at St Mary's.
Surman suffered lateral ligament damage following a tackle from Tom Soares but will begin his comeback after a five-week absence away to Millwall at The New Den this afternoon (2pm).
And if he impresses for the Pontins Holiday Combination table-toppers, he could even be involved in this Saturday's crucial Championship top-of-the-table clash at West Brom.
Manager George Burley confirmed: "Drew has had a good week's training so will be involved with the reserves.
"We'll see how he goes but he could be added to the squad for Saturday."
Burley admitted that it is "too early to say" whether Kenwyne Jones will recover in time to play against the third-placed Baggies at the Hawthorns.
And Rudi Skacel (back injury) is "50-50" to face Saints' fellow play-off hopefuls.
Defender Darren Powell is out for a few more weeks while Djamel Belmadi continues to work with Saints' fitness coach Nick Harvey.
There are places in the reserves this afternoon, though, for for Alexander Ostlund and Nathan Dyer.
Oliver Lancashire (England U19s) and Lloyd James (Wales U21s) are both on international duty.
Sainst reserves (probable): Bialkowski, Ostlund, Cranie, Byrne, Makin, Dyer, Licka, Idiakez, Surman, McGoldrick, Lallana.
