Southampton runner Mahamed Mahamed has claimed his first national cross country title.
He finished first in the under-17 field of 381 at Parliament Hill in London, winning by a huge 48 seconds.
It maintained a stunning start to 2015 for the teenager who has now won all his six races this year.
He had previously won the Hampshire Cross Country Championships title at Fleming Park in early January, before repeating the feat in the South of England event at Brighton three weeks later.
Mahamed has also won the Hampshire Schools Championships, a South East Schools Inter Counties race at Reigate, and the Hampshire League cross country event at Bournemouth.
He also had three races in December 2014, and won all of them as well – a Southern Region Schools event in Oxford, a Hampshire League race at Basingstoke and an Eastleigh Parkrun just after Christmas.
Younger brother Zakariya nearly matched his brother’s gold medal winning achievement in the under-15 boys race at Parliament Hill, finishing runner-up.
Zak is in the bottom age group, meaning he is still eligible for the under-15 event in 2016.
Abdi, the older of the three Mahamed brothers and like his siblings coached by Peter Haynes, ran in the under-20 men’s race and helped Southampton AC to seventh in the team category.
The club’s senior men were out in force, finishing 16th in the team event (the first nine to score) Jamie Knapp was first Southampton man home in 60th position out of more than 2,000 runners.
