Saints are hopeful that Toby Alderweireld will make a swift recovery from a shoulder injury.

There were worrying scenes towards the end of Saints' 2-1 defeat at Stoke as Alderweireld received extensive treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off but Koeman was pleased to report some positive news.

“Toby looks OK now,” he said.

“It’s his shoulder and we maybe have to wait until the scan or something else to know exactly what happened.

“It’s his shoulder but he’s back on his place and will be good I think.”
