Chris Baird believes a win at Birmingham on Saturday could be the catalyst for a tremendous finish to the season for Saints.
The Northern Ireland international defender was left heartbroken after Saints lost a one-goal lead to be defeated 2-1 by high flying Sunderland at St Mary's yesterday.
Saints' defeat and the other results in the division meant Baird's team slipped from sixth to eighth in the table but with four games left it is still all to play.
Saints travel to out of form Birmingham on Saturday and Baird feels a victory there could spark a winning run until the end of the season.
He said: "We're still there.
"I know most of the results went our way, which was fantastic again.
"Birmingham lost and they've had a bad run of late and we can go there with confidence, because if we beat them we're right back in it.
"We're not giving up and we will be giving everything these last four games.
"It's another tough game at Birmingham, they're a great side that came down here and gave us a good game.
"We do want it so much for us and the fans and everyone involved.
"We will go there and give it our best shot.
"We want 12 points from the next four games and, if we can get that, we'll be comfortably in the play-offs."
