George Burley will have to wait until the end of the season before discovering whether he can sign Marek Saganowski on a permanent basis.
The Saints boss has been delighted with the form of the Polish striker who has netted nine goals in ten starts since signing on loan from Troyes in January.
Saganowski revealed that he wanted to stay a Saint, regardless of what division the club are in next year, after bagging a hat-trick in the recent 6-0 win at Wolves.
But Burley will have to wait until Saints know whether they will be in the Premiership next year before a decision is made.
Burley said: "Marek has done very well and of course I would like to keep him but there are so many things up in the air at the moment and a lot of things to get sorted in the summer before we know whether we can sign him permanently.
"First of all, we have to know what league we're going to be playing in, then finance comes into it as well."
