MARK Thistleton was so sure his day was done that he'd packed his spikes and was heading for the shower when they told him he was in a play-off for the Selborne Salver on Saturday.
He didn't even have a practice swing before he was playing the 10th hole for the third time that day, en route to a winning par four and victory over England international, Matt Cryer from Coventry.
Thistleton, 25, is the second Hampshire player to take the title in three years and the second from Hayling, Mark Treleaven having won it 15 years ago, also in a play-off.
