George Burley believes Saints' goalscoring potential could prove decisive in their final few games.
Saints are the league's top scorers on the road - their 40-goal total is eight more than next best Sunderland, although ten clubs have netted more than their 31-goal home haul.
In-form striker Marek Saganowski has been ruled for the run-in after tearing a groin muscle.
But 14-goal Kenwyne Jones is fit again after ankle problems and 20-goal top scorer Grzgeorz Rasiak is desperate for a chance to show he can emerge as a real hero.
Burley said: "The last two games we've lost we've had six or seven great opportunities and hit the woodwork a few times, so you need a little bit of luck as well.
"We have got the potential in the team to score goals and I think that's important as well."
He added: "Kenwyne being back in the team is a big bonus to us."
