Saints boss George Burley was full of praise for Saints matchwinner Leon Best.
Best scored the only goal at Norwich on Saturday to put Saints on the verge of play-off qualification - a win at home to already relegated Southend this Sunday should seal the deal.
Burley said: "Leon has come in in the last month or so and has done very well for us.
"He's looked lively with pace and strength and took his goal very well.
"He has played a key role of late.
"His energy, pace and strength can make him a handful for any defence.
"For young players I've always said playing regular brings their game on."
And Burley also had good news on 14-goal Kenwyne Jones.
The Trinidad & Tobago striker was forced off in the second half but it is only a knock and Jones should be fine for Southend's visit.
