Stoneham's Richard Elmes rescued the Hampshire County side from the jaws of defeat in their annual Pinflag Golf Events Match against the Hampshire PGA at Blackmoor Golf Club.
First former County Champion Elmes holed a ten-foot par saving putt to halve his morning foursomes match and later holed a two foot birdie putt at the 18th to defeat longtime friend Alan Mew in the deciding singles match.
Elmes's last-hole heroics meant that, for the first time in the five-year history of the event, the match score was tied, with the County side retaining the Pinflag Salver.
After the morning foursomes were halved, the Hampshire PGA side had taken the lead with singles wins from Ben Johnson, Ian Roper, Roger Tuddenham and Steve Richardson.
