George Burley was full of praise for his young team as Saints reached the play-offs.
He said: "It's three wins on the trot that takes us into a play-off position and we're very pleased with that.
"We've got a young team - Leon Best is 20, Kenwyne Jones is 22 and they both got two goals and Gareth Bale is 17 and supplied two of the goals.
"In addition, 19-year-old keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has kept onto the No 1 shirt he initially claimed when Kelvin Davis was suspended, while 20-year-old Andrew Surman has been a regular for much of the season.
"It's very encouraging for the future and the youngsters played a big part," said Burley.
He added: "We wanted to have a good win for the fans.
"There was a full house and the tickets have been sold for over a week which shows the interest.
"They were happy after the game with four goals and a play-off position and I'm sure they'll be right behind us."
