Marek Saganowski is desperate for a Saints recall - for the sake of his health.
The Polish striker missed the last three games of the season after tearing his groin, an injury which halted his purple patch of ten goals in his previous ten Championship games.
But Saganowski has returned to training this week and declared himself fit and ready to go for tomorrow's play-off semi-final first leg against Derby.
Saints boss George Burley has tough choices to make in whether to start Saganowski, Leon Best, Kenwyne Jones or Grzegorz Rasiak.
Jones and Best both hit doubles against Southend while Rasiak is still the club's leading scorer.
Saganowski is hoping he'll be at the front of the queue for the sake of his nerves.
He said: "I am fit.
"I started training again this week and I feel very good.
"It's been hard. If you're out on the pitch you see a different game. When you're on the bench or the treatment room you are more nervous.
"It's very strange but for me it's easier being on the pitch.
"I'm much more nervous when I'm not playing.
"I think it' because when you are on the pitch you can make something happen, you can help, you can move and you don't think about other things."
