DUSAN Tadic has insisted that he is happy at Saints but will not rule out a potential move away from St Mary’s in the summer.
Reports in the national press suggested that the Serbian was considering his options after complaining of heavy-handed treatment from manager Ronald Koeman.
However, Tadic, who has been one of Saints’ most creative forces since his £11m arrival from FC Twente in 2014, has sought to clarify his position at the club.
He said: “Everything is okay, I like Southampton, I have great communication with the fans and that’s it.
“We will see at the end of the season what’s going to happen.
“You never know in football.”
He continued: “You never can guarantee some things because I have two years contract after the summer and, you never know, not just for me, but for every player, you never know where it’s your future.
“Football is like that you know, one day you are there, one day somewhere else.”
The attacking midfielder has been in patchy form this term — although has scored a respectable five league goals — and was an unused substitute for a run of three games in February having been a vital player for Saints since his arrival.
During that time Koeman admitted that Tadic wasn’t “on his level” and that he was struggling to crowbar the former Groningen man into the Saints team after a change of formation.
He came back into the team, starting in the wins against Stoke and Liverpool and, before that, the 1-1 home draw with Sunderland.
For now, Tadic, who was a second-half substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Leicester on Sunday, dismissed any discontent with life on the south coast and is focused on a strong finish to the Premier League season in which he hopes to play a key role.
“No, no I am happy here and everything is okay,” he said.
“I like to be important for the team. That’s it, to try and help my team Southampton to give fans pleasure to enjoy,” he added.
“I try to be professional and do my best and that’s it.”
Saints missed out on gaining an advantage over European-place rivals West Ham, Liverpool and Tottenham, who all drew, with a 1-0 defeat at Leicester on Sunday.
But Tadic isn’t about to give up on the chase for another lofty finish in the top flight.
“In this league everything is possible,” he said. “Everyone can beat each other.
“We still have six games to play before the season ends.
“We will see, you never know.”
