Consistent and creative.
They are two words which are unusual bedfellows in the world of football.
Normally, you do well to have one or the other, but not both.
Generalising, defenders and work horse midfielders are often labelled as consistent, but rarely as creative.
Attacking players are by their very nature creative, but rarely can you find one who is consistent.
To find a player who can combine both of those qualities is a scarce thing, but, in Steven Davis, the man of the moment after his double fired his team to victory at Tottenham, Saints have one.
He remains the unsung hero of the side, adding balance to the attack when Ronald Koeman throws the likes of Graziano Pelle, Saido Mane and Dusan Tadic into the mix.
Davis provides a tireless work ethic to help those around him find the time and space to shine.
But, the aspect of his game often overlooked, is his own creativity and attacking contributions to the side.

Only the aforementioned attacking trio, along with set-piece taker James Ward-Prowse, have more assists for Saints this season than Davis, while he has also contributed a couple of goals.
Davis is one those rarities in modern day football, and Saints remain lucky to have him.
