EASTLEIGH are putting fans first by laying on two free coaches to next Tuesday’s big Vanarama National League game at table-topping Forest Green Rovers.
The Spitfires' players got the ball rolling by offering to club together financially and pay for one coachload of supporters to make the trip to Nailsworth, Gloucestershire and cheer on the boys in blue.
“To show how much the players appreciate your support on the road they are all contributing together to make the coach travel free," the EFC website announced.
"With this fantastic offer in place, it would be great to see as many Spitfires as we can get behind the boys on the road.”
Now, due to popular demand, the club itself is matching the team’s generosity by providing the funding for a second coach.
The Spitfires' generous gesture is in stark contrast to the perceived greed at Premier League level and has been widely applauded on social media.
Ex-Saint Matt Le Tissier, a former Eastleigh player, tweeted a round of applause, saying: “Love that”
And teamwear suppliers mysportswear gave the plan a huge thumbs up, stating: “This shows how @eastleighfc value their supporters! #Grassroots."
It even caught the attention of Arsenal fan GoonerJohn, who tweeted: “Players paying for one supporters coach, club paying for second. Bravo all concerned #footballforthe fans”
For any supporters who have already paid for their travel to Forest Green, the club are offering to transfer their money to another game or refund them..
To book a seat for next Tuesday please call the club on 023 8061 3361 ASAP.
