George Burley has begrudgingly accepted Martin Cranie's reasons for quitting Saints.

The 20-year-old defender has rejected Saints' new contract offer after becoming frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities at St Mary's.

Burley said: "Unfortunately with young players they get a little bit frustrated when they're not playing regular.

"When somebody hasn't been playing regular they think a move somewhere might push their career forward."
