HAMPSHIRE'S Josh Goodall believes his excellent form in the doubles at the Nottingham Open will stand him in good stead for today's scheduled first round Wimbledon showdown against Feliciano Lopez.
Goodall exceeded all expectations along with partner and fellow Brit Ross Hutchins by making it through to the final of the doubles before losing on Saturday to Eric Butorac and Jamie Murray, brother of Andy.
Along the way, they managed to beat such highly- rated duos as Arnaud Clement and Sebastien Grosjean plus Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in the semi-finals.
The final itself was the first of Goodall's career at ATP level in either singles or doubles.
"It's been absolutely perfect preparation for Wimbledon even if it has been in the doubles," says Goodall.
