George Burley last night placed a not for sale' sign on Kenwyne Jones.
Reports suggested Sheffield Wednesday had offered £2m for Saints' Trinidad and Tobago international striker.
Burley denies that offer was made but admits he was sounded out about Jones' availability.
Burley said: "Sheffield Wednesday asked me about Kenwyne and we said he's not for sale - simple as that.
"They certainly never offered £2m.
"At this stage clubs phone round and ask about players but Kenwyne is certainly not for sale.
"He's young, he's improving, he's come a long way in the last season or so and his attributes are there for all to see with his strength and pace."
