Swindon Town boss Paul Sturrock wants to sign Saints goal ace David McGoldrick on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old striker spent a successful loan stint in League Two with Bournemouth in the second half of last season.
His six goals in 12 games helped Kevin Bond's men escape from the the threat of relegation and Bond said he would like to bring the striker back on loan for 2007/08.
But the ex-Saints boss of Swindon, newly promoted to League One, is now believed to be showing real interest too in a loan deal and McGoldrick was reported to have had talks with the club.
Another League One side, Yeovil, were keen to sign McGoldrick on loan last January, but at the time the player was involved in George Burley's first team plans. The recruitment of Marek Saganowski on loan then allowed McGoldrick to join the Cherries a few weeks later instead.
Keep up to date with Saints in today's Daily Echo.
