EASTLEIGH crashed 3-1 at lowly York City this afternoon and remain without a win in 2017.
The Minstermen propelled themselves off the foot of the Natioanl League table after taking charge with two Jon Parkin goals in the first 13 minutes.
York’s seventh-minute opener emanated from a long throw headed on by Vadaine Oliver for Parkin to volley in at the far post.
The ex-Forest Green Rovers man then finished off a similar move to make it 2-0 six minutes later.
Putting that dreadful start behind them, Eastleigh were handed a route straight back into the game when Ross Stearn’s in-swinging free-kick was misjudged by York keeper Kyle Lethern, who allowed it to bounce between his legs for 2-1 on 16 minutes.
Spitfires defender Gavin Hoyte cleared Amari Morgan-Smith’s shot off the line after the break before, at the other end, Eastleigh loanee Tyler Garratt struck the inside of the post with a bouncing 25-yarder.
Ryan Clarke pushed an Oliver header against the bar from Asa Hall’s corner before York grabbed a third with ten minutes remaining.
Oliver was not to be denied this time, holding off Ayo Obileye and steering the ball into the bottom corner.
The Spitfires are 15th, still eight points clear of the relegation zone.
