Saints winger Nathan Dyer hopes his attitude and application will help him force his way into boss George Burley's first-team thoughts full-time.
The dimunitive winger has failed to nail down a regular first team place since making a stunning start to his Saints career in a 3-0 league cup win at Southend in August 2005, in which he scored and picked up the man-of-the-match award on his debut.
The 19 year-old was sent out on loan to Burnley, where he marked his debut with a goal against Millwall, for two months during the 2005-06 season and was expected to fulfil his early potential last season.
The season didn't pan out as many had hoped though and after an inconsistent campaign Dyer was used only sparingly in the first team towards the end of last season.
The new campaign though has provided fresh impetus and Dyer is hoping that 2007/08 will be the season he makes his mark in the first team.
"It's a big season coming up for me," he said.
"I wouldn't say it's a make or break season but I am really trying to push on and im-prove as much as I can and be in the first team squad full-time.
"I think it's about having the right attitude, doing everything right and maybe doing a little bit extra. I just try to do my best and hopefully I'll impress the coaches."
"I will just be trying to play as well as I can.
"I know if I play my heart out, I will get my reward. I just want to be getting in the team and making George Burley look at me."
