SAINTS legend Jason Dodd today returned home' to St Mary's as first-team coach.
The former skipper has stepped down as manager of non-league Eastleigh to replace Glynn Snodin, who left for West Ham last week.
The 36-year-old will be a popular choice with Saints' fans who loved his passion and never-say-die commitment during his 16 years with the club.
As exclusively reported in Saturday's Daily Echo, Dodd was invited for talks with manager George Burley earlier this week.
He was due to be unveiled in a press conference at Staplewood today.
Dodd said: "It is wonderful to be back with Saints. Everyone knows how much the club means to me and I am thrilled to get this opportunity.
"It was right out of the blue when I got a call from George Burley asking me to come in for a chat and I was delighted when he offered me a coaching role.
"It is something I have always wanted to do and I am over the moon to get the chance."
