KEVIN Caplehorn will be on a mission to Moscow in August with a brief to improve the golfing skills of the Russian public.
Through teaching at the BMW PGA Championship and the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth, the Totton resident has been invited to give tuition during the Russian Open (August 2-5) at Moscow Country Club.
The invite arose after one of the directors of Provision Golf - a company which organises and staffs corporate tuition days - asked the Daily Echo columnist if he'd like to make the trip as part of a publicity drive by Nokia, who will be showcasing a new mobile phone at the tournament which has golf tuition software attached.
"It took me about a second to say yes'. I'm really excited about it," said the 33-year-old PGA professional, "I've never been to the country before and have been learning a few basic phrases that may come in handy, like the Russian for good shot. Previously the only Russian word I knew was Smirnoff!"
