SAINTS will NOT consider disbanding their football board.
There had been rumours over the past week that the PLC board of Southampton Leisure Holdings would scrap the football board after the executives gained control of the former by replacing Brian Hunt with Andy Oldknow at a stormy meeting last month.
Were the board to be scrapped, it would mean Saints legend Lawrie McMenemy and Mary Corbett, daughter of former long-serving director John, relinquising their directorships.
Football board members are known to be concerned that the meeting scheduled for the end of this month - their first get-together since May - could be their last.
However, the Daily Echo has been told that the football board WILL remain in place as it is seen as an important faction of the club - externally, with the footballing authorities, as well as internally.
An official club spokesman said: "The football club board is a very important part of the workings of the Saints."
