Adam Hammill has promised Saints fans "there is a lot more to come."
The exciting teenage winger, who has signed on a season long loan from Liverpool last week, starred as Saints kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 win at Blue Square Conference South neighbours Eastleigh.
Hammill scored once and was involved in another in a debut 45-minute performance that would have impressed the Saints fans present at the Silverlake Stadium as much as it did manager George Burley and first-team coach Jason Dodd.
And the 19 year old said: "It's always nice to score on your debut and I thought my performance was okay.
"But there is more to come and hopefully the Saints fans will see that.
"I was a bit rusty today but hopefully throughout the season I will get better."
Hammill was unveiled as a Saints player on Thursday and was pleased he only had to wait two days to show the fans what he was all about.
"It was nice to have a game so quickly after signing," he said.
"As soon as possible I wanted to come in and show them what I can do so they can see what I can do.
"But, as I said, there is a lot more to come from me.
"The direct running, pace and tricks are main parts of my game but that's not all of it.
"My passing is also a big part of my game, I like to create chances for others as well as myself."
Saints flew off for their two-game tour of Norway straight after Saturday's game.
And Hammill added: "It's nice that I will be able to spend a lot more time with the players and they can get to know me in Norway.
"We can work on on the field and off the field relationships to get to know each other.
"It was a bit tough today because I don't know much about my team-mates and they don't know much about me, but I am sure as we get to know each other the best will come out."
