A DOUBLE bogey on his last hole completed a miserable back nine of 41 and left Justin Rose with a mountain to climb just to make the Open Championship cut.
Playing with Tiger Woods and 1999 winner Paul Lawrie, the Hampshire player offset a two dropped shots on the third hole at Carnoustie with four pars and four birdies on an otherwise blemish-free front nine of two under par.
Things, however, took a turn for the worse when the 26-year-old hit the back nine.
The Englishman dropped shots on holes ten, 12, 15 and 17 to fall back to +2 and a six on the infamous 18th left him near the back of the field after signing for a 75.
