WE MAY not have learnt much about Saints at St Mary's on Saturday, writes Adam Leitch in today's Daily Echo.
But at least a few problems were underlined in the 5-2 home drubbing by Lazio to focus minds ahead of the new season.
The Italians are an extremely good team made up of top quality players.
It's easy to see how they finished third in Serie A and as a result qualified for the Champions League.
Luckily, Saints won't face any sides in the Championship this season that even come close to that kind of quality. But against good opposition, the frailties we all knew existed in the Saints side were exposed for all to see.
Boss George Burley and operations manager Lee Hoos are working on bringing in some new faces.
Hopefully one will arrive today, and with less than a fortnight now until the start of the season it is very, very urgent that they do.
