DUTCH trialist Ruud Knol must wait to see whether George Burley signs him for Saints.
The 26-year-old played for a youthful XI in last night's 2-0 win at Conference National club Woking.
He lined up in central defence alongside Olly Lancashire.
Krol is available on a free as he recently left his Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.
He was linked with a move to Sunderland earlier this summer, and was rumoured to have turned down the chance of a trial at Saints' Championship rivals Stoke.
Back in January he was linked with West Ham.
In May he told the Dutch press: "A move to England would be fantastic. I know Sunderland have watched me on several occasions and they are a good team.
"However, there are more teams after me."
Saints won last night with second half goals from strikers Bradley Wright-Phillips and Cedric Baseya.
