DERBY are refusing to give up in their bid to sign Saints striker Kenwyne Jones.

Saints yesterday hit out at the Rams for an "unsolicited and unwelcome" £5m bid which they turned down on Monday evening.

That was Derby's second unsuccessful bid for last season's 16-goal marksman.

Derby boss Billy Davies said: "We made a substantial offer and they turned that down but negotiations will continue.

"I felt we acted in a very professional manner, unfortunately in this game agents and third parties are always on the phone trying to create a move or a problem for someone".
