GEORGE BURLEY has admitted Kenwyne Jones may have to be sacrificed to fund the purchasing of new players - but only if the price is right.
Saints rejected an "unsolicited and unwelcome" £5m bid for the 22-year-old Trinidad and Tobago striker on Monday evening from Premiership new boys Derby County.
That bid was the second Derby offer turned away by Saints - the first coming last week.
The second knock-back is unlikely to be the end of the matter though, with Rams boss Billy Davies being persistent in his pursuit of Jones and reported to have said yesterday, "negotiations will continue."
Given the choice Burley would like to keep hold of Jones, who bagged 16 goals last season.
But given the likely need to sell before he can buy, having such a choice may unfortunately not be an option for the Saints boss.
