SOUTHAMPTON City have reached the finals of the National Premier League’s Indoor Tennis Doubles competition in their first year.
They won the South West League, pipping Millfield by one point, having beaten them 3-2.
Now they go through to the national finals in Leeds (May 4-6), against all the other regional and play-off winners.
The second and third-placed teams go to the play-offs in Norwich.
The Southampton team was made up of men’s county players Paul Scullard, Sam Bossem, Louis Allen, Liam Hignett, Jake Norris, Piers Farhang, Mats Colling, Paul England, Josh Gook and Ed Percival.
Marcus Willis, who played Roger Federer at Wimbledon in 2016, plays for last year’s winners Cardiff Met University.
Each fixture is made up of two doubles matches with each team getting a point for a rubbers win and an extra point for a match win.
The National Premier League is sponsored by Hunters Estate Agents.
