SHOLING made it six wins in a row with a dominant 3-0 victory over Shaftesbury at the Universal Stadium on Saturday
Jake Hoole was the star of the show, picking up the Snows Toyota man-of-the-match award.
But it was two Sholing stalwarts – Lee Wort and Byron Mason - who fired the Boatmen to three Sydenhams Premier points.
Wort took his season’s tally to 20 with his third brace in as many matches, while skipper Mason – fresh from making his 500th club appearance - claimed his 11th of the campaign, all headers.
It made it a disappointing first visit to Portsmouth Road for Shaftesbury who were reduced to ten men midway through the second half.
Sholing took a tenth-minute lead - Marvin McLean scampering down the left and cutting the ball back for Wort to plant a calm finish into the top corner.
Shaftesbury – captained by former Eastleigh and AFC Totton defender Jack Vallis - had chances to level, but Mason made it 2-0 with a stooping header from Alex Sawyer’s corner with 53 minutes gone.
The visitors’ task was made harder still when Jordan Matthews saw red shortly after the hour and Sholing showed no mercy, scoring a third on 68 minutes.
The outstanding Hoole beat two defenders before forcing a save from Card. The ball fell to sub Frazer McLean whose header came off the underside of the bar for Wort to nod in from six yards.
The fourth-placed Boatmen host reigning champions Portland United tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 8pm).
