Saints defender Darren Powell has vowed to curb his natural aggression.
The 31 year-old was dismissed for violent conduct in Saints' 2-1 pre-season win at AFC Bournemouth last month after reacting angrily to a heavy challenge from Cherries winger Phil Mulryne.
Powell's expected punishment quickly followed when he was suspended for the first three matches of 2007/08, starting with this afternoon's Championship curtain-raiser against his former club Crystal Palace.
That's a bitter pill to swallow for Powell.
Powell said: "I just want to play and hopefully stay injury free and not get suspended or anything silly like that.
"My discipline is within my control and that's something that I have got to curb".
