GEORGE BURLEY was seething over the performance of referee Clive Oliver as his Saints side slipped to their third successive defeat of the season.

Saints put in a good performance against Norwich at Carrow Road and should have walked away with all three points.

The fact they didn't was down to missed chances and some dubious calls from the officials which included deciding Andrew Surman's spilt shot hadn't crossed the line and an argument surrounding the circumstances of Norwich's leveller.

After the game Burley, who rarely criticises officials, could not contain his rage.

He said: "It was strange and I can't believe we've lost it.

"From the start the referee was looking to give them a crucial decision.

"First half we really should have been four or five goals up and weren't."
