CHRIS MAKIN admitted the referee was right to award the free kick which led to Norwich's opener in Saints' 2-1 defeat at Carrow Road.
After the game Saints boss George Burley was critical of official Clive Oliver over several incidents, including the circumstance surrounding a free kick for Makin's back pass that was picked up by Kelvin Davis and from which Jamie Cureton slammed home the equaliser.
However, Makin was honest after the game and held his hands up to admit that particular decision was the correct call.
He said: "It was a free kick, it was an intentional back pass by me and Kelvin has decided to come out and save it.
"It was a free kick, no doubting that.
"Up until that stage we were doing quite well and looked quite good but goals turn games.
"You've always got to be on your toes with Jamie Cureton, he's scored a lot of goals in his career, he turns sharply in the box.
"Kelvin got a hand to his goal but couldn't keep it out having just made a great reaction save from a shot that deflected off me."
Stand-in skipper Makin was gutted with the result but pleased with the performance his side put in at Norwich which was a massive improvement to the opening two matches.
