GEORGE Burley will send Saints into action against Stoke tomorrow asking them to build on their performance at Norwich last week.

"We're encouraged by that performance so we've got to build on it," said the manager.

Burley will be boosted by the return from suspension of Darren Powell and has only one fresh problem.

"Chris Makin is our only injury doubt," said the boss. "He has a slight strain in his hamstring and hasn't trained this week so far.

"We're pleased to add Darren to the squad. It will be good to have him back.

"When you lose three centre halves, as we did in the summer, it's hard to replace.

"We keep our fingers crossed Claus Lundekvam is not too far away".

Burley was again asked yesterday about the future of Kenwyne Jones, but continued to bat off suggestions he will leave.

"It hasn't helped matters with the speculation but Kenwyne's staying," he stated.

"We had to sell players in the summer because of losing our parachute money and now we've got to build a squad.

"As a manager I don't want to keep losing my best players and Kenwyne is one of my best players".
