The Isle of Wight's Kelly Sotherton has claimed Great Britain's first medal at the World Championships in Osaka after winning bronze in the heptathlon.
The 30-year-old Birchfield Harrier posted a season's best total score of 6,510 points to edge out team-mate Jessica Ennis by 41 after recording lifetime bests in the long jump, 100metres hurdles and 200m, while also posting a season's best in the javelin.
Defending champion Carolina Kluft claimed a third consecutive world crown ahead of Lyudmila Blonska.
