George Burley was a happy man after seeing his Saints side win their first game of the season.

Saints came back from a goal down to defeat Stoke 3-2 at St Mary's and put their losing start to the campaign behind them.

The performance was littered with good individual displays and impressive football.

And Burley had special praise for the youngsters in the team - 19-year-old Nathan Dyer, Andrew Surman - who celebrated his 21st birthday only last week - and Bradley Wright-Phillips, 22.

He said: "The little triangle with Nathan, Andrew Surman and Bradley Wright-Phillips was excellent.

"They are three young players and they can be pleased with their performances because they were exceptional.

"I wanted a bit of pace and Bradley has that.

"He's looking sharp and just needs a little bit of belief and he can push on from there because there is competition with Marek Saganowski and David McGoldrick.

"He showed a lot of composure".
