Saints have completed the signing of Jason Euell.
The 30-year-old has signed on a free transfer from Middlesbrough on a two-year deal.
Euell started his career as a striker but has dropped back to the midfield in recent years and it is in that progressive central position that George Burley is likely to employ him.
He started his career at Wimbledon where he spent five years in the first team before a £4.75m move to Charlton in 2001.
Euell, who was born in London but has represented Jamaica at international level, was at the Valley for another five years before moving to Boro in 2006.
