SOLENT Stars, one of the great names of English basketball, won't be appearing in the 2007/08 league fixtures.

The club has fallen victim to a series of circumstances that has made it impossible for them to continue.

The Eastleigh-based Fleming Park Leisure Centre, the club's home base since they were formed in 1980, have pulled the plug on Solent's occupancy and there are no suitable alternatives in the south Hampshire area.

Owner Bob Paulley did not wish to publicly comment, but he has sent a 100-page report to the sport's governing body, England Basketball, and other interested bodies stating why the Solent Stars cannot continue at the present time.
