Saints defender Claus Lundekvam will be out of action for at least six months after undergoing ankle surgery.

Lundekvam went under the knife on Wednesday in a bid to cure him of the persistent pain he has had to endure since suffering the ankle injury at the end of last season. It was hoped Lundekvam would need a minor clean out which could have seen him return by the end of October. But instead he needed a reconstruction of the tendon, which means he is facing a more lengthy rehab period, sidelining him until the end of February.
