Bradley Wright-Phillips "can't wait" for the league programme to resume this weekend when Saints travel to Watford.

And he hopes the game marks the start of a Saints march up the Championship table.

Domestic football has taken a back seat over the last fortnight due to the international break, which was particularly untimely for Saints.

After a difficult start to the season, George Burley's side found their form and some momentum with impressive back-to-back wins against Stoke and QPR in their two games before the break.

Ahead of Sunday's trip to Vicarage Road, striker Wright-Phillips said: "We had been playing well and you could say the break came at the wrong time for us.

"But we have just got to concentrate and get it right again at Watford.

"We can't wait to get going again.

"Obviously, some of the boys have been away on international duty but, when they come back, we will get right back into it. It will be nice if we can carry on."

That is something Wright-Phillips also hopes will happen with his scoring form.

The 22 year-old notched his first goal of the season in the 3-0 win over QPR, and said: "I think the season has started okay for me. I am nice and confident - I just want some goals really.

"I got one before the international break but I wanted to carry on because we've had a little break now and sometimes that can mess up your run."

Confidence is high in the Saints camp, according to Wright-Phillips, particularly after the two consecutive wins.

Three games in seven days now await Saints, starting with the trip to Watford and followed by a St Mary's double header against Colchester and Barnsley next week.

And Wright-Phillips added: "Everyone is confident and we just want to get a run going and climb the table.

"There is obviously one target, which is to get promoted, and that's what we are trying to do.

"It will be good next week. You always want to play games and prefer that to training, so it should be good and we are looking forward to it."
