Nathan Dyer believes that now is his time to shine at Saints.

Since making a goal-scoring debut as a 17-year-old against Southend in August 2005, Dyer has seen fellow academy graduates Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale shine before securing big-money Premiership moves.

And now another, Andrew Surman, is the man-of-the-moment, grabbing the headlines with his exploits for Saints and England under-21's.

In the meantime, Dyer has been making steady, but slower than expected, progress.

He had a loan spell at Burnley two seasons ago to gain more first team experience.

But now his determination and hard work is starting to pay off.

Dyer put in arguably his best two performances in a Saints shirt before the international break.

And the 19 year-old feels he is ready to make his mark.

Ahead of Sunday's trip to Watford, the pacy winger said: "I made my debut about two years ago and I haven't really shown what I can do, and obviously Theo and Gareth have come through and done tremendously.

"Now hopefully it's my turn.

"Everyone looks at the up and coming players and some mature quicker than others, who may need a few more games to get to their full potential".

He added: "I have got a lot more to offer. There is more to come from me.

"Now I need to keep trying to be consistent and stay in the starting line-up".
